Research Focus

Research interests include: epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases (coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, insulinlike growth factor related outcomes); non-communicable diseases and aging-related outcomes among adults with longstanding HIV infection and other infections including hepatitis C; health of Hispanic/Latino populations; health disparities; lifestyle factors including smoking, physical activity and sedentary behavior; influence of human microbiome and metabolome on cardiometabolic diseases.   Affiliated projects include Hispanic Community Health Study – Study of Latinos (HCHS-SOL); Women’s Interagency HIV Study and Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (WIHS/MACS); Cardiovascular Health Study; Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) Program; Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) Consortium.
