Title: Marijuana to Measles: Preventing Infections in Cancer Patients at the Fringes

Abstract: As cancer and hematopoietic cell transplant patients continue to live longer and move increasingly to outpatient care, their risk for infections continue to shift.  Dynamic changes to how we provide screening, prophylaxis and treatment for infections have improved outcomes, but changes in climate, bacterial resistance, community vaccination and public policy have led to changes in patient risk.  Dr. Pergam, the Director of Infection Prevention at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and an Associate Member at Fred Hutchinson will give an update on the collaborative work that he and his research team have developed to help protect immunosuppressed patients.
