Drs. Corey and Mascola recently co-authored an article in Science with Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins calling for collaboration between academia, government and industry to develop potential vaccines for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Dr. John Mascola

Dr. John Mascola was appointed as director of the Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center (VRC) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health, in October 2013. Prior to that time, he served as deputy director of the VRC from 2000-2012, and as acting director between December 2012 and his permanent appointment. Dr. Mascola’s background is in infectious diseases, viral immunology and vaccine research. Learn more.

In February 2020, Dr. Tom Lynch took the helm of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle following a distinguished career as a medical leader at Harvard and Yale — where he was director of the Yale Cancer Center. Grounded in experience as a cancer physician, Lynch carries with him a deep appreciation for the value of both clinical and basic scientific research. Prior to joining Fred Hutch, Lynch headed research at pharmaceuticals giant Bristol Myers-Squibb. Learn more.
