The Fred Hutch Survivorship Program is hosting the 2020 virtual Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness event.

In recognition of National Cancer Survivor’s Day and in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to celebrate cancer survivors. This event will include a discussion about different forms of deep relaxation important in healing and how to get started, as well as messages to you from survivors in our community!

Karen Syrjala, PhD, Fred Hutch Survivorship Program

Dr. Karen Syrjala is a clinical psychologist who works to reduce the physical and emotional consequences of cancer. Dr. Syrjala co-directs Fred Hutchinson’s Survivorship Program and directs the Biobehavioral Sciences Program, which studies ways to integrate behavioral and biological treatments to help patients adjust to the health, physical and psychological challenges they face after cancer therapy.

Karen Gorrin, MA, LMHC, University of Washington

Karen Gorrin is a licensed psychotherapist and cancer thriver. She teaches mind body medicine at UW School of Medicine.
