Speakers

Dr. Thomas J. Lynch Jr.

Dr. Tom Lynch

Tom is Fred Hutch president and director and holder of the Raisbeck Endowed Chair. He is a highly respected oncologist and pioneer in precision medicine who is respected worldwide for his leadership in academic medicine and industry. Since joining the Hutch in 2020 — just weeks before COVID-19 shutdowns began — he has guided the organization’s urgent response to the pandemic while safeguarding the cancer research at the heart of our mission.

Dr. Sita Kugel

Dr. Sita Kugel

Sita creates models that replicate, in the lab, the behavior of pancreatic cancer in humans. She is uncovering the precise mechanisms that enable different types of pancreatic cancers to form and progress — and gaining insight that could lead to more effective treatments and better outcomes for patients.

Dr. Aakanksha Singhvi

Dr. Aakanksha Singhvi

Aakanksha is exploring how brain cells called glia affect the growth and survival of neurons, which carry out critical nervous system functions. By studying the brain cells of tiny worms, she is learning how disruptions in communications between glia and neurons may contribute to neurological disorders, like Parkinson’s, and brain cancers.
