Chromosome Metabolism and Cancer Training Grant Application

Arrange to have the following documents generated and submitted in PDF format to the training grant coordinator, Anissa Barker:

1. Letter of intent. This should include tentative project title, name of your mentor, and names of potential references.

2. CV / resume / biosketch, providing details of your academic training to-date and any relevant research and work experience. If you are a graduate student, include your current academic standing (number of credits taken to date and GPA).

3. Letters of recommendation from your mentor and two other individuals. All letters of recommendation should address current strengths of the applicant and how the proposed training program will further enhance their professional and academic development. The mentor letter should also describe, in detail, a unique and well thought out training plan for the applicant, including the experimental goals for the upcoming year.

4. Research proposal. The document should be no more than two single spaced pages (Arial 11 point font or equivalent in size) for all sections, including figures. Literature cited is not counted against the two page limit.

Proposal Guidelines:

  • The general NIH format should be used: Abstract, Specific Aims, Significance, Innovation, Approach.
  • The title and 250-word maximum abstract is NOT included in the two page limit. 
  • The proposal must be relevant to cancer and the relevance should be discussed in the application. 
  • Include an explanation of how your research reflects the training grant's goals.
