Since its founding, Fred Hutch has been guided by the strong leadership of its Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees, with appropriate delegation to its committees and the Hutch's officers, oversees Fred Hutch's affairs. The responsibilities of the volunteer trustees include:
Establishment of broad policies for the Hutch including its mission, values and long range strategies;
Overseeing implementation of those policies by Hutch management;
Evaluation of the institutional effectiveness of the Hutch;
Review and approval of the Hutch's strategic plan;
Approval of the annual budgets and overall financial programs and policies including oversight of management compensation;
Appointment and evaluation of the effectiveness of the Hutch's chief executive officer; and
Election of Board officers and trustees
Board of Ambassadors
The Board of Ambassadors is an appointed group of volunteers whose purpose is to support Fred Hutch and its mission of eliminating cancer as a cause of human suffering and death by serving as ambassadors for the Hutch in the community. The specific responsibilities of the Board of Ambassadors are:
Make an annual contribution commensurate with your ability to give
Partner with Fred Hutch Philanthropy staff to identify, cultivate, and/or secure Innovators Network, Presidents Circle, and major gift level individual and corporate gifts
Participate in individual and corporate prospect strategy meetings with Philanthropy staff
Fill a friendship table at or participate in one signature fundraising event each year
Actively participate in cultivation events through attendance, outreach, hosting, or acting as emcee
Serve as Fred Hutch ambassadors and advocates in the community
To serve on one or more committees within the Board of Ambassadors, or to serve on Hutch Councils or Advisory Groups when called upon by Hutch leadership
