SCCA "Shine" Store

 

Q: What is the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s new "Shine" store at the SCCA House?

"Shine" will apply a fresh and modern approach to cancer patient services and retailing.

The store will serve families within the SCCA House, SCCA clinic patients, visitors, staff and South Lake Union neighbors. It is intended to be a destination for all in the Puget Sound region who are receiving cancer care and anyone who is looking for a unique shopping experience with a philanthropic benefit.

"Shine" will serve consumers who seek solutions to cancer-related issues, as well as everyday needs for unique and quality merchandise.


Q: Why did SCCA choose to open this store?

Patients undergoing cancer treatment have special needs for services and products related to the effects of their treatment.

They also appreciate a supportive and informed atmosphere that meets a range of shopping needs in one convenient location.

SCCA is in a unique position to provide these services at the SCCA House. This "retail meets resource" model, entirely under one roof, does not currently exist anywhere in the Seattle area, and supports SCCA’s mission of patient-and family-centered care.


Q: What unique products and services will "Shine" offer?

Products and services will include private dressing rooms for breast prosthesis, bra and compression garment fitting, and for trying on post-surgical and general apparel.

There will also be a head shaving station, hair alternatives, specialty skin care products and light medical supplies.

Trained, certified and supportive staff will be available to assist and encourage customers in finding products that best fit their lifestyle and treatment experience.

"Shine" at the SCCA House will also provide an engaging assortment of products, including books, gifts, snacks, magazines, greeting cards and sundries.


Q: When and where will "Shine" open?

You can shop at "Shine" starting in September. 2011. The store is located at the SCCA House, 1216 John St. Hours of operation will be Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., or by appointment.


Q: Will I be able to shop online from "Shine"?
