Fred Hutch hosts first Seattle Genetic Instability and Cancer Symposium April 22

The free, daylong event will facilitate interaction between Seattle-based graduate students, research associates and principal investigators in the field of DNA repair, genomics, genetic instability and cancer; register by April 10

Registration is open for the first Seattle Genetic Instability and Cancer Symposium Monday, April 22, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. in Pelton Auditorium. The event will facilitate interaction between Seattle-based graduate students, research associates and principal investigators in the field of DNA repair, genomics, genetic instability and cancer.

Dr. Junjie Chen of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will be the keynote speaker. Chen is professor and chair of the Department of Experimental Radiation Oncology.

The symposium will also feature 10-minute talks and a poster session presented primarily by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on the following research areas:

  • Replication stress and DNA damage response
  • DNA repair and mutagenesis
  • Cancer mechanisms
  • Genome engineering

Register by April 10

While Fred Hutch is presenting the daylong symposium at no cost, attendees must register by April 10 to attend the poster session and catered reception.

Fred Hutch’s Human Biology Division and Chromosome Metabolism and Cancer Training Grant are the primary sponsors of the symposium, with additional support from Qiagen and Sigma-Aldrich.
