Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has received a $1.26 million, five-year Science Education Partnership Award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, or NIGMS. The award will fund a new science education and training program called “Frontiers in Cancer Research."
A science education program helped launch Louisa Pendergast’s research career. Now she’s helping mentor more science teachers at Fred Hutch.

In high school, Louisa Pendergast had an inspiring biology teacher who'd participated in a science education program at Fred Hutch. Now a working scientist at the Hutch, Pendergast is mentoring more teachers through that same program.
