Cancer Center Support Grant Pilot Awards fund new research directions and collaborations

Five collaborative teams within the Fred Hutchinson/University of Washington Cancer Consortium have received Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Pilot Awards for 2012. The pilot grants are presented every year to fund new Consortium research directions and collaborations.

The Fred Hutchinson/University of Washington Cancer Consortium has launched a new shared resource led by Dr. Peggy Porter of the Hutchinson Center's Human Biology Division and UW Department of Pathology. The Consortium Biospecimen Resource (CBR) will make biological specimens more readily available for research, improving disease detection and the treatment of solid tumor cancers.

The National Cancer Institute last week announced that a team co-led by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Mass., has been selected to participate in the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium, or CPTAC.
