Uniform Guidance

New Guidance on Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards ("Uniform Guidance")

On December 26, 2013, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released its final guidance on Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards. This Uniform Guidance (UG) combines eight circulars into one and the new regulations are presented in three categories:

  • Reforms to Administrative Requirements (combining A-102, A-110, and A-89);
  • Reforms to Cost Principles (combining A-21, A-122 and A-87); and,
  • Reforms to Audit Requirements (combining A-133 and A-50).

Timeline

Uniform Guidance went into effect on 12.26.14 for new federal awards and funding increments on existing awards made on or after 12.26.14.           (Updated 5.19.17)  

Implementation

The Steering Committee and Working Groups continue to develop guidance in order to achieve compliance.

 

Impact

The new changes are the most substantive for federal funding recipients in 50 years and impact many of the operating and business departments at Fred Hutch.
