Understanding and Preventing Breast Cancer Disparities in Latinas

Ethics and Policy Core [EPC]

Core Director:

Malia Fullerton, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Bioethics and Humanities, University of Washington

The Ethics and Policy Core [EPC] will conduct research and explore policy options aimed at promoting the central research goal of the Center – understanding and intervening on the primary antecedents of breast cancer in the Latina population.  EPC investigators will conduct empirical qualitative research related to ethical and policy concerns in Latina health care disparities research.  The EPC will provide as-needed research ethics advice, training, and support to Center investigators with respect to the management of ethical issues encountered in the design and conduct of their planned investigations.  Research policy development will focus on encouraging maximally effective health disparities research strategies which can be delivered in a rigorous and culturally-appropriate manner.
