Star Study

Star Study

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is currently working to learn more about the needs of Black/African-American breast cancer survivors in the Puget Sound area.  They are seeking  the insights of both oncology professionals and African-American breast cancer survivors to take part in focus groups.  Focus groups are group discussions in which everyone shares their knowledge and opinions about a specific topic.

The goal of this project is to better understand the experience of breast cancer survivors as they move from being cancer patients to people who have finished the main part of their treatment. Ultimately, we want to create a culturally-sensitive patient navigator program for Black/African-American cancer survivors.
