Michael Gale

Research in the Gale laboratory is focused on understanding innate immunity to RNA virus infection, and the intracellular immune processes and virus-host interactions that govern the pathogenesis of hepatitis C virus, West Nile virus, HIV, and influenza viruses. The laboratory has a specific focus on defining the viral pathogen associated molecular patterns, the host cell pathogen recognition receptors, and the innate immune signaling programs and actions of alph/beta interferons that are triggered and controlled by infection.
