Fred Hutch has a long history of training the next generation and understands that women are underrepresented in technology. In an effort to create opportunities we have launched a Girls Who Code Club in partnership with the national nonprofit organization, Girls Who Code. The Hutch club will meet throughout the academic year, and is facilitated by a team of women who use coding every day in their biomedical research.
Our club will be facilitated by Fred Hutch and University of Washington graduate students and advised by Dr. Beverly Torok-Storb. Over the course of the year, participants will learn basic programming skills, build awesome creative projects, and foster a fun, supportive community. NO previous experience required. We will all learn together!
Our club meets from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Our first meeting will be in early October. We are currently enrolling girls in grades 10 through 12 and encourage all interested to join us. We strongly encourage participation by girls from under-represented backgrounds.
